Proposal to Support WordPress Contributor Leadership

Sponsor dedicated WordPress contribution time in Faisalabad.

I am Abdul Rahman (Pomy), a WordPress professional and community organizer building practical pathways from first contribution to continued participation.

A contributor, organizer, and WordPress professional since 2009.

I am the founder of WPKitchen and the WordPress Faisalabad Community, Lead Organizer of WordPress Campus Connect Faisalabad, and a Project Translation Editor for Jetpack Urdu.

Alongside community work, I bring hands-on experience in WordPress support, development, maintenance, troubleshooting, and client communication. This sponsorship would support only my dedicated contributor time; I would continue to operate WPKitchen independently during my remaining working hours.

A contributor pathway that can be repeated across Pakistan.

Faisalabad is the proposed delivery hub because I already have an active local network, documented contribution activity, and practical experience organizing learning and onboarding opportunities. The work can become a documented model that emerging contributor communities across Pakistan can adapt.

The contributor pathway

  1. Awareness
  2. Onboarding
  3. First contribution
  4. Mentorship
  5. Continued participation

The work is already active, measurable, and publicly documented.

From May to July 2026, 13 unique contributors and volunteers recorded active WordPress contribution across translations, photography, meetings, code, Core, plugins, and support.

Reported activity also includes

  • Two new WordPress.org plugins published by local contributors
  • A Core contribution to WordPress 7.0 “Armstrong”
  • Ongoing development work on the WPContributors project
  • Three recorded support replies

My recorded activity

522 translation contributions, 15 photo contributions, four WordPress meeting participation records, one WordPress meetup hosted, and more than 1,000 translations reviewed.

Experience that connects people to contribution.

10 seatsWordPress contributor workspace program coordinated
5 eventsLocal WordPress, freelancer, and contributor-focused gatherings organized
90+ studentsReached through Pakistan's first WordPress Campus Connect
400+ lunchesSupported through WPKitchen, independently managed

I also welcomed five new participants at our fourth WordPress Contributors Meeting, publish monthly activity reports, and use Talk Time to help newcomers learn from established contributors.

A balanced 20-hour week built around direct contribution and contributor development.

Priorities can be adjusted with the sponsoring agency to reflect the WordPress project's current needs.

8 hours

Direct contribution

Translations, translation reviews, the Photo Directory, and an agreed additional contribution area.

5 hours

Mentoring & follow-up

Contributor coordination, practical guidance, and continued-participation follow-up.

3 hours

Meetings & onboarding

Contributor sessions, workshops, and accessible first steps into WordPress contribution.

2 hours

Educational resources

Interviews, guides, recaps, and useful learning resources.

2 hours

Reporting & evaluation

Public documentation, sponsor communication, and priority setting.

Specific work, visible results.

During the next three reporting months, I would also work toward doubling the May–July volume of documented community contribution. This would be reported as a collective community-development outcome, not as personal output claimed solely under this sponsorship.

  • 1100+ Urdu translation suggestions submitted
  • 2500+ Urdu strings reviewed
  • 35+ original photos submitted to the WordPress Photo Directory
  • 4One contributor-focused meeting, workshop, or onboarding session
  • 5Structured mentoring, first-contribution tracking, and follow-up
  • 6Regular contribution to WordPress support forums or an agreed team
  • 7One interview, guide, recap, or other educational resource
  • 8One detailed public report with results, challenges, and next priorities

One sponsorship. One clear record of work.

This proposal funds only my personal professional time for WordPress contribution, mentoring, coordination, educational resources, and reporting. It is separate from WPKitchen, Work Time workspace funding, meetups, and event sponsorships.

  • Sponsored contributor hours and individual outputs recorded separately
  • WPKitchen's independently managed activities kept distinct
  • Workspace, meetup, and event expenses tracked independently
  • No hour or expense charged to more than one sponsor
Every public monthly report will include hours dedicated to each agreed activity, contribution links, meetings and onboarding, contributors mentored, resources published, outcomes, challenges, and next priorities.

Let’s build a sustainable contributor hub in Faisalabad.

The first 90 days are a review point, not an end date. They give us a practical way to confirm priorities, results, and a durable long-term fit. If you would prefer to begin smaller, I am also open to a 10-hour-per-week arrangement at $1,000 per month with proportionate outcomes.
